Yakutian free-style wrestling celebrates the jubilee

Today the sport community of Sakha (Yakutia) Republic celebrates 55th anniversary of wrestling evolution in the region according to the official information portal of Sakha (Yakutia) Republic. In the House of the Government the sports veterans and honored trainers have been paid the due tribute. This day becomes particularly significant on the threshold of the International Forum “Russia – Country of Sports” and the 5th Children of Asia International Sports Games that will be held in Yakutia in 2012.

On behalf of the President and the Government of the Republic Alexander Vlasov, Deputy Chairman of Government congratulated all with this historical date. “Today we can proudly say that every fifth man in our Republic is involved in physical training and sports, he said, “The public program on the development of sports is actively promoted. One of the basic sport cult disciplines is the wrestling. I would like to note that the wrestling is very close to the heart of Yakuts as this martial art has put its roots in the history of tribal relations and is based on the traditional combats, especially, Hapsagai.  

The higher achievement sports is, undoubtedly, associated with the name of Dmitry Korkin, the prominent coach of Yakutia, The athletes he trained have become famous and titled sportsmen. Every year the tournament under Kurkin name is held and the next tournament will be open tomorrow. Presently our Olympic hope – Victor Lebedev brightly represents our school of wrestling”.

Please, be noted, that at the last Russian Wrestling Championship that was held in2011 inYakutsk Victor Lebedev, the representative ofSakhaRepublicwon the gold in50 kgweight class. “Over 60 sports are cultivated in Yakutia, but the wrestling was and is number one sport discipline”, said Egor Borisov, President of Sakha (Yakutia) and the Head of the Republican Wrestling Federation.

Alexander Podgolov, Minister of Youth Policy and Sports of Sakha congratulated all and presented the testimonial letters to sports veterans, namely: Nikolay Volkov, Nikolay Alexeev, Vladimir Koryakin and Vladimir Tagilov.

Vasily Egorov, Vice-President of the Ministry on behalf of Egor Borisov, President of Wrestling Federation, presented insignias “Contribution to wrestling evolution in Sakha (Yakutia)” to the honored masters of sports, namely: Pavel Pinigin, Alexander Ivanov, Nikolay Volkov, Vasily Gogolev, as well as masters of sports; Vyacheslav Karpov, Semen Dmitriev, Semen Tegeev, Christophor Grigoryev, Petr Popov, Mikhail Nogovitsyn, Mikhail Kazhenkin, Innokenty Kochkin, Roman Neustroyev, Nikolay Bosikov, Vladimir Tagilov, Aphanasy Louginov, Aphanasy Alekseev, Petr Platonov, Igor Kudryavtsev, Vladimir Koryakin, Nikolay Totonov, Nikolay Safonov, Fedot Solovyev and Semen Alekseev.

Jury Baishev, the First Deputy Minister of Youth Policy and Sports, telling the history of wrestling in the region, noted that 80 athletes – master of sports have been trained in Yakutia along with 38 masters of the Soviet Union, 5 masters of sports of International Class, prize winners of Russian, World and European Championships and International tournaments.
